''As with respect, contempt cuts both way. Our population may be divided in its politics and aspirations, but we are united in one thing – our universal contempt for our rulers. And if we have contempt for them, that soon extends to embrace their laws as well. This may manifest itself in different ways, at different levels of society, but the malaise is the same. That, the prime minister will not be able to wash away with a pressure-jet cleaner.''
Dr Richard North - writing today on Tony Blair's 'respect' initiative.

a yes......mr north....i was wondering when his mild mannered opinions would surface again
Scottyboy - When you've grown up sonny, and learnt some manners, maybe your opinions will be worth as much as mine. But I somehow doubt it.
I am certain that DOCTOR North's opinions will be much respected on this and indeed his blog (eureferendum) regularly. As for mild mannered, well clearly you have never seen the good Doctor defend him self in court when he is prosecuted by those nasty rude roadside robots.
I have learnt so much politically from Dr North. Scottyboy, whoever you are you need to pay closer attention - you might even learn something valuable.
'prosecuted by those nasty roaside robots'.....u mean the CPS i take it and not the police.....
'Nasty rude roadside robots', is I think you'll find, Peter's charming description of revenue, ooops, I mean speed....no wait, now they're calling them SAFETY CAMERAS.
The said cameras monitor speed, but they don't take into account bad driving, car theft, tail gating, dangerous driving, driving without insurance etc.
That is why we need more proper police, able to do the job for which they were trained, rather than more cameras and police people turning into administration staff!
