The Sunday Quote no 113
" Even if the French voted no, we would have a referendum. That is government promise.''
Rt Hon Tony Blair - an interview with the Sun newspaper, published 13 May.
However, last week Mr Blair told the House of Commons: '' because of the uncertainty it would produce there is no point in having a referendum''
Clearly it would be a referendum of mass destruction if ever it were put to Her Majesty's Subjects.
On 16 June ironically the EU Council will most probably insist the ratification process continues, thus forcing a referendum in the UK, regardless of Blair's intention to kill the issue.
