UKIP STOP BLOG

Petrina Holdsworth

Following yesterday's announcement of her intention to resign, UKIP party chairman, Petrina Holdsworth has today withdrawn her offer of resignation.
.
The rift between Mrs Holdsworth, barrister and UKIP's Deputy Leader, MEP Mike Nattrass, has apparently been patched over for today any way.
.Mike Nattrass
In a letter to MEPs and National Executive Council Members, she yesterday reminded members that she has "received a number of highly offensive and inaccurate emails from the Deputy Leader of our party", MEP Mike Nattrass Having replied "in a reasonable and civil fashion" and demanded an apology from him, she goes on, Nattrass had refused "and indeed added to his insults". A further request had been answered with a critical "round-robin", which, writes Holdsworth, means that "he could not have made his position clearer."In response, writes Holdsworth, "I shall make mine clear as well":
.
We understand nine out of the twelve remaining UKIP MEP's penned their names to a letter calling on Petrina Holdsworth to reconsider her position. The absent supporter was Mike Nattrass.
.
Clearly Mrs Holdsworth has, by staging a U turn, prevented a rumoured leadership bid by Mr Nattrass forecast for next Saturday's party conference.
.
It is always vital that UKIP is seen as an electable party, at this point in time it is particularly important as there is no other effective political opposition to our membership of the EU; clearly the Conservatives, amid their own internal wranglings, have failed to grasp (or face up to) the importance of the EU in a non-EU referendum political environment.
.
UKIP must stand firm and not allow machinations, ego struggles and dynamics to stand in the way of building the only political party in the UK that is committed to telling the truth about the EU and fighting for the only available option, withdrawal.
.
UKIP recently launched a campaign to demand a national referendum on Britain's continued membership of the EU, see www.ukip.org
.
This blog would welcome greater support within UKIP for John Moran, a successful businessman and backbone of the party of many years standing.
.
Also, undoubtedly, principal party benefactor, Alan Bowne surely needs and deserves to see his financial support is on solid foundations.
.
UKIP's Party Conference on Saturday will hopefully see unity and development of policies, particularly the editor of this Blog's motion, passed at the last Party Conference, that UKIP develop a detailled exit strategy from the EU.
